TrueFemmeSFL's Thoughts
By TrueFemmeSFLtakes about 30 min to prepare. tastes awesome!!! the hardest part is cutting the papaya. it helps to cut it in long quarters and then into rectangles. throw out the triangle parts.

To shred the papaya use potato pealer to get the skin off then a mandolin or a cheese shredder.
I use palm sugar despite it not being raw
There is also a vegan "no fish" sauce that is great. I have not used this one but a quick search gave me this one.
No Fish Fish Sauce ("Nuoc Mam")
From VegNews #41 JanFeb2005; p49
3/4 cup soy sauce
2 cloves minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon hot red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup water
Combine the ingredients in a small jar with a tight-fitting lid. Shake until well blended. Store in the refrigerator.
