Ingredients
2 cups macadamia nuts
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 cup onions (diced)
¾ cup water
Recipe Directions
1. In a Vita mix, blender, or food processor (best results from vita mix) blend macadamia nuts, water, and salt until smooth and creamy. Start with 3/4 cup water and add more only if needed (up to 1 cup) to make mixture blend. Keep this thick as you can and make sure it’s as smooth and creamy as possible when done.
2. Remove from vita-Mix and add in the onions by hand. Make sure to add the onions in by hand after the blending.
3. Mix gently and chill.

By andrealeducEven better than the real thing! Just had to share.
Really great with rye bagels or with raw veggies etc.

ok, new to this site, does it show? haha
edited the recipe, the recipe amounts are good now!
Btw, mac nuts are hard to find, if you do find some, they should be refrigerated.
I serve it with raw veggies, or rye bagels, which I guess I will post the recipe for also! This dip really tastes like the real thing so serve it with whatever you usually fancy onion dip with

I agree with you ambikalee. And they are so darn expensive too! Anytime a recipe calls for them I use cashews or brazil nuts instead and it still turns out great. I used to eat onion dip with potatoe chips so I guess I would have to make Alissa's potatoe chips for this. I normally make my onion dips by making my raw sour cream which is cashew based and puttin in the spices and onions - tastes like the Deans Sour Cream Onion dip. So I am sure cashews would work well for this recipe too.

Thanks for submitting this. DO you usually serve it with particular dehydrated chips or vegetables?
