Recipe Directions

  • 1. Throw all ingredients (except last 1/2 cup of tomatoes) in a high-speed blender and blend up 'til nice and smooth and well mixed. You can let this raw tomato soup recipe blend in the Vitamix or Blendtec blender for a little extra time so that the heat of the blades and the friction actually warm up this delicious, creamy raw tomato soup recipe.
  • 2. Transfer raw tomato soup to a bowl. Add the remaining 1/2 cup of diced tomatoes and mix gently with a spoon.
  • 3. Garnish the raw tomato soup recipe with sunflower sprouts! Eat immediately.

The Rawtarian's Thoughts

By The Rawtarian

Raw tomato soup recipe - Does that sound tasty to you? For some reason I was really turned off by the idea of raw soups for a long time. For two years, actually! I was turned off of raw soups because I once made a raw vegan beet soup that was very gross and watery!

But I finally gave raw soups another go and was pleasantly--and I mean very pleasantly--surprised by my raw tomato soup recipe!

What I like about this recipe is that it's so easy. I mean, you've got tomatoes and cashews, basically. Can't get much easier than that!

A lot of other raw tomato soups call for avocados, but I like this recipe because I always have cashews on hand in my pantry so I can make it any time--rather than having to make sure I have a perfect avocado on hand.

This raw tomato soup recipe makes a nice big bowl for one person. :)

Hmmmm - I've been looking at that psyllium husk bread you do with big eyes... but don't have a dehydrator yet and budget a bit tight for the next little while. What can you recommend that is super easy, savoury, and can be done with a blender only? Think I might be trying the red pepper soup next! Yum!

I must say that this soup is absolutely fabulous! I had a ripe avocado on hand so I threw some in. I’m in love and my non vegan non raw family members love it too! Thank you so much for all of these delectable recipes. I’m feeling so blessed that I can eat nutrient dense food that is truly pleasurable.

I'm so glad that the tomato soup turned out well for you, Ladi!

Adding avocado to soup always makes it that much creamier, too. Yum!

Thank you, Laura-Jane! You bring out the best in me each time I make any of your recipes. Are you sure you’re not a magician? I started my raw journey this past May and I am still amazed when I make or remake any of your recipes, or TRK members’ recipes. Everything here is not only super tasty, mouthwatering delicious but soooo healthy and definitely sustainable in the long run.

Just added this photo to showcase the soup and my upgraded “blender,” the Nutri Ninja, 900 Watts extractor blades, noteworthy because I was able to warm up the soup with its blades (great for cold days ahead), the texture of the soup (liquidy, creamy...ah, just right, perfectly smooth... mm-mm), super fast to clean (unscrew the blade lid, rinse ... rinse cup... done ?), and it cost about $70 (not bad considering the Vitamix costs quadrupally more... and now I can finally benefit way more from Laura-Jane’s awesome recipes as well as stick to a raw food lifestyle. Best investment I’ve made in awhile. It’s better than a blender, it’s a blender and juicer combined, and zero nutrients are lost with this Pro. hallelujah!!!

Made this soup again, and this time using red tomatoes. I also added 1/2 red pepper, 1/2 red hot pepper, usual sprinkle of seeds (sunflower, sesame, chia), a pinch of parsley, a pinch of alfalfa sprouts, a splash of Nama Shoyu, and 1/2 tsp of Gourmet Natural Seasoning instead of the sea salt, oh, and 2-3 sun dried tomatoes. It came out sooo delicious, I’ll be making this soup all winter to get me through the cold days. Note: Laura-Jane’s recipe is just as delicious as is, without additions.

I'm licking the bowl as I'm writing this, an amazing recipe I didn't think I would like this because the tomato soup in the blend tech recipe book is not great at all. after coming home from work and being tempted to eat something quick processed and gut stuffing, there could be nothing quicker than this so after I ran to Trader Joe's and got me some cashews because I needed it anyway for the sour cream I making tomorrow and I pulled up this recipe in the store. and I'm going to go lick the blender right now and the lid til thers no drop to be found

I realized I don't think I've left a review of this recipe, which is a shame. My fiancée and I have it literally almost every night! We seriously probabaly average having this soup 5.5 times a week. It is AMAZING! We switch it up every so often, add basil, jalapeños, avocado, whatever we feel, but always extra garlic! :) Everyone in our small town is sick right now, and I am not. I think having this soup all the time is a big part of that! I call it my multivitamin. I did a nutritional analysis on it, and the amount of vitamin C, Vitamin K, zinc, potassium, B vitamins, etc. Is extremely high! Zicam ain't got nothing on this soup! Thanks Laura-Jane, you're the greatest!!

I have made this soup several times and it is sooooo delicious.....BUT, I made the mistake of freezing a batch and sadly it does not freeze well! Despite thawing before reheating, it separated badly and consequently had to be thrown away :( BUT I am about to make a fresh batch for our afternoon snack.....yum, yum, yum :)

I am going to make this on a regular basis this summer! Also I substituted the cashews for half an avocado and added fresh basil as another person suggested.
