I actually think the wine making process is consistant with a raw diet.. when done by small boutique vineyards.. Some of the larger vineyards and well known names may be less pure in their process, which I don't trust. I will admit a bias though, I am a wine consultant with a company that conducts in home wine tastings called the Traveling Vineyard. Shameless plug.. I realize.. but I truly believe they are fab. wines!
Sarma states in her book that both Wine and Sake are raw because they are not heated. I hope this helps!
I could be wrong but I think refined sugars are used a lot in wine making.
berryraw makes a great point. refined sugars are added to any sweet wines.... it's best to choose a table wine, so that you're not getting as many added sugars and the calorie content is lower than dessert wines.
I no longer like anything that alters my state of conciousness.
Wine is soooo dehydrating. When I used to drink it a bit, if I had two or three glasses I would wake up at five am, my body SCREAMING for water.
I think it is very acidifying, as well, but correct me if I'm wrong.
But...to each his own.
this company makes organic, vegan wines you can order:
