Well, what a coincidence!!!!!!!!
Just got back from parents and driving across London in cab, with windows open, and completely sneezeless, I thought ‘I’m going to post on all the forums about Raw and Hay Fever’,then I log on and see your post!
Anyhow, if I’m sounding a little over-excited, here’s the reason.
In a nutshell, childhood teens and twenties summers badly affected by hayfever May/June. Couldn’t go outdoors in June full stop, had to stay inside and shut all doors and windows got it so bad. A little improvement in later years, but never managed to get through a summer without Beconase (steroid spray, that helped a bit – and, yes, will have poisoned me as well…).
But that was BEFORE RAW.
Last year, after a few months of 80-90% raw – NO HAYFEVER. None at all.
After that, I put it on my website on the ‘After’ list, but secretly worried that perhaps it was because our summer in the UK last year was really poor.
But…this year, after seven months of 100% raw (more ‘average’ UK summer weather) – again – NO HAY FEVER. None at all. This weekend the weather has been mild to warm, windy and high pollen count – the sort of weather that would have been disastrous for me pre raw. Again, no problem. I can roll around in the grass – way-hay!!
So clr-1976, if you’re new to raw, or not ‘high-raw yet’, I hope my experience will give you hope.
In fact, just to be sure, I think I’ll give it two weeks more before really ‘going public’, just in case! I may then write an article about it.
Love, Debbie
I have awful allergies, I have only been all raw about 1.5 months so I am hoping that the super allergy busting effect will still be on my horizon… in the mean time I continue to use freeze dried stinging nettles to get me through the season. You can get them at a natural food store. I don’t think they are raw but they help me a lot when taken regularly
I used to have hay fever (awful!) I have been raw for four months and I only sneeze when I am doing major cleaning. I just went to a natural doctor who specializes in allergy reversal and I only had four environmental allergies (left). I used to be allergic to all kinds of fruit, too, but that has changed since I went raw. He said that the reason for allergies is when your GI tract is dirty and it leaks into your blood (sometimes via parasites). He said the raw diet will clean the GI tract up and essecially get rid of allergies.
I am not 100% raw but perhaps 90-95%. I have had hay fever for years. I too have been gobbling medication like it’s going out of fashion. Being sent home from work because your hay fever is disturbing the customers should just about sum up how bad it gets for me. However… A few years ago, (way before I even knew what raw was), I found an amazing natropath in Melbourne, Australia. Her clinic is called herbario. Anyhow, she set me on the path of healthiness. I have since been weened off her as I am 100% healthy now but I still use her tonic called ‘sinus relief’. It works miricles. It’s for hayfever! I can not recommend this enough. So much so, that I get it sent over to Germany as that’s were I live now. It’s all herbs…that’s it. This is the website and she sends stuff all over the world.

Please check it out and email her to see what she can do for you. I am now hay fever free.
GOOD LUCK.
I suffer from it as well…I take nettles in capsule form and also ginko, and take local honey which seems to help a bit..not raw answers but no Big Pharma ones either >;)
I too am allergic to summer. I put a smear of vaseline on the inside of my nostrils. It traps the pollen. I wish there was a natural vaseline though. Anyone know of one?
Guys, thanks for your great advice! Debbietook – I’m keeping my fingers crossed for next yr, I’ve only been raw for about 2 months and am having to take the dreaded antihists for now or it would be unbearable! I’m looking forward to reading your article!
Bluebells – ‘Hay max’ is designed for that – I’ll paste the link.. http://www.haybalm.f2s.com/?gclid=CIqelNyNoZQCF…
I’ve made my own though, out of beeswax, sunflower oil and a drop of frankinsence (having looked at the ingredients of the frankinsence hay max!) Just make sure there’s not too much beeswax or it’s too solid, it needs to be sticky to trap it. I avoid vas because of the petrochemicals.
I’ll try nettles too.. Will nettle tea work just as well? I’ve heard its quite nice.
Madbanana – any links on an ‘allergy reversal’ doc? I’m in the uk, are you?
Thanks all!
I’ve had trouble with hay-fever for 5 years now. It’s the only thing I’ve actually tested allergic to. I’ve cured it to about 95% by avoiding dairy (especially during hay-fever season) and generally keeping to a RAW diet (I’m close to 80% raw). Now all I ever get is a slight itchy nose feeling and just a few sneezes, but no more runny nose and constant sneezes. And no more anti-histamines.
Hi clr-1976
I think I’ll be writing the article quite soon, as others are suffering all around me, and I still have to pinch myself – not a smidgeon!! Long-term suffers will know that a ‘hay fever sneeze’ feels different to other sneezes and I’ve had – not one (oh, and I’m in the UK as well!).
Carmentina – your post is very encouraging to others. 80% raw and a vast improvement in your hay-fever. The implication here is that a 100% raw diet would probably hit yours on the head for good. I wondered, could I quote you, abridged as follows: Carmentina: ‘I’ve had trouble with hay-fever for five years now. I’ve cured it to about 95% by avoiding dairy and following a high-raw diet. Now all I ever get is a slight itchy nose feeling and just a few sneezes, but no more runny nose and constant sneezes. And no more anti-histamines.’ Let me know. Might not check in again for a while, but will be back!

Debbietook, quote me by all means! Anything that might help others improve their health NATURALLY!
I’ve had hayfever my whole life (and asthma most of it). When we moved to where I live now, I found that the allergy season was 9 months of the year. I was on all kinds of medication (steroids included) and it STILL wasn’t enough to keep from suffering. I used to cry during my months off realizing that I’d have to go through all of that again.
Long story short, with raw eating, I can live without any medication and without any allergy problems. I haven’t been completely consistent with raw eating these past 2 years, but when I am, I feel great. WHen I don’t, the allergies come back and it only takes a good 2-3 days of all raw to get me free of the symptoms again. I can eat high raw after that and still feel fine. The closest I’ve come to medicating myself (if lots of dust or smoke from fires) is using salt water in the neti pot.
