Guys, I don’t believe that noone eats samphire.
silly question, but what is samphire?
I just googled “samphire” cuz I didn’t know what it was either. Turns out it’s a plant. Cool name. I googled “samphire recipes” and it seems most involve sautéeing or steaming.
I believe it’s a plant, (related to the carrot??) that grows on cliffs and in salt marshes. It’s supposed to be good for your kidneys and digestion and taste really good.

here’s a link I found on samphire on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samphire a bit more info but it suggests cooking :( http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/content/knowhow/glos… I buy it in Delhaize in Belgium, not expensive at all, and according to my experience it keeps well in the fridge even up to 2 weeks without wilting, is not as salty as the above link claims, even if it is for you just wash it a bit under water or soak in filtered water for a little while. So far I put it in salads with lemon juice and olive oil, yummy!!! and blended in tomato sauce, yummy! or just tossed it with sea spaghetti, it’s lovely, crispy and fresh. I’m gonna try to dehydrate it like chips too. If you have any recipes, please share!
are they really salty? i think i bought some at whole foods once. if its the same thing i’m thinking of, i just sprinkle them on salads, toss with zoodles, add to soups
the ones I buy are salty but not too salty. I use them the same way you do, I was just wondering what kind of recipes people came up with.
