Arcata residents - HUMBOLDT!!!

I had no idea that any of you were even from arcata. it just didnt click in my head. I just read an earlier thread and it was talking about all these people in arcata. Well, if you’re in arcata, mabye we could talk local stuff. you know…just meet some people in the area that are raw. im zack by the way. im a student at HSU and am having a lot of fun with raw foods!

    Okay so I don’t live in Arcata (although I almost moved to Eureka two years back, it’s a beautiful area). I had to comment though, because I read your profile and thought it was funny. I’ve always had the sentiment that I’m the only one who grows sprouts in my dorm room too! All of my roommates friends think I’m insane.

    I lived in Humboldt from 2001 to 2003 and again in 2004. It’s not America! Wow, what a place!

    I took Zoe to Humboldt on our Honeymoon tour of Northern California in 2005. We ate at a 100% Raw Cafe in Blue Lake just outside Arcata. Are they still going strong? Their pizza was great!

    yes ive heard of that place in blue lake. i actually met the owner and was thinking about working there come next semester.

    hahah yes kelly i feel like an outsider, even at humboldt. its really funny.its a pretty crazy area. i just went slacklining today outside of the math dept. i think that has to be the only place people are creative enough to do that. haha

    My bf and I are considering moving up towards Arcata – maybe Eureka which is pretty close – because a friend of ours lives in Hayfork in the mountains. What is the job situation like up there?

    i really have no idea. but living is pretty cheap compared to eveyplace else.

    Is there any crime up there? What are the people like are they pretty friendly? Is it bike friendly? What is the average temps high and low?

    Where I am at right now we have had some crime issues (which is weird because this is a low crime neighborhood) and most of the people are just into their cars and making money. So we don’t like it where we are at now and want to find someplace new.

    My bf and I want to plan a trip to go up their and check out some of the cities around there but gas is so expensive right now.
